4A- Professional Learning

 – The teacher engages in professional learning in preparation to critically examine his/her professional practice and to engage in a continuous cycle of self-improvements focused on how to learn, teach and work in a global and digital society

This reflection from one of my weeks of student teaching contains information regarding a professional learning (PL) day I attended. I was able to learn different skills that I can use to examine my professional practice and make improvements and changes to benefit my students. This PL day exposed different teaching styles which I will be able to incorporate and try in my future lessons.

4C-

- The teacher engages in continuous critical examination of his/her teaching practice and makes adjustments based on data.

In the reflection of this lesson, my critical thinking about how to improve the lesson next time around is shown. After every lesson there is a reflection about what went well and what I would improve for the next time I teach this lesson. This reflections highlights my ability to point out a misconception through observation, think about how and where this students way of thinking came about and how I can avoid this mistake next time.

4D- Professional Contribution

– The teacher contributes to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession through investigation of new ideas that improve teaching practice and learning for students

This function is shown through an assignment I completed. I researched evidenced based reading strategies to improve my reading instruction. These evidence based reading strategies will promote learning. This graphic organizer broke down the elements of reading instruction which I researched to find tactics to use to teach each element.
